Vesconite Bearings has significantly expanded its warehousing capacity over the past year, more than doubling the space available to support its global client base. The new warehouse measures 45 m x 19 m and includes 1,575 m³ of shelving space.
The expansion has been designed with efficiency and customer service in mind. By increasing storage capacity, the company can streamline inventory management and expedite order fulfilment, making it faster and more accurate. The additional space ensures that stock is more accessible, allowing Vesconite Bearings to meet the growing demand for its high-performance bearing and wear materials across multiple industries, including agriculture, mining, marine, rail, hydropower, and construction.
The new facility includes larger aisles, making it easier for staff to move large crates during unpacking and dispatch. The wider access also improves safety and efficiency when operating material handling equipment. A new 1.8-ton gas forklift has been introduced to replace a diesel alternative, reducing exhaust emissions inside the building and creating a more comfortable working environment. Two electric pallet stackers further enhance the smooth handling of goods within the warehouse. The design also allows for the introduction of a stock picker, which would enable stock to be retrieved directly from bins at height, improving turnaround times.
Accessibility has been a key consideration. Two large roller doors, situated on the eastern and western sides of the warehouse, enable flexible loading and unloading in all weather conditions. Couriers are able to drive directly into the building during rain or other adverse weather events, protecting products from damage and ensuring uninterrupted operations.
Within the warehouse, a dedicated space has been established for packing, sorting, and weighing. Additional sealers and part-counting scales have been installed to support this function, helping the company manage both small custom orders and large-volume shipments with equal efficiency. Large windows with an open view into the packing area have been added, together with a seating area for visitors. This offers a practical seating space for clients who visit the factory.
The expansion has also been accompanied by investment in new technology. A barcoding system is being rolled out to improve the accuracy of stocktaking and order processing. This approach is expected to significantly reduce the time taken to conduct stock counts while improving accuracy.
The warehouse expansion represents Vesconite Bearings’ continued investment in infrastructure to support its customers. By improving storage, handling, and dispatch processes, the company is positioning itself to deliver even higher levels of service to industries that rely on its durable, self-lubricating bearing materials.
“Expanding our warehouse space allows us to work more efficiently, handle larger volumes, and deliver products more quickly to customers,” says Vesconite Bearings CEO Dr Jean-Patrick Leger. “It reflects our commitment to continuously improving customer service while also creating a safer and more sustainable working environment for our staff.”
With the combination of expanded capacity, advanced handling equipment, and modern digital systems, Vesconite Bearings is well prepared to support its global distribution network and meet the growing demand for its products.
