Turnout switch bushings (08/09/05) Vesconite bushes are fitted to rail turnout switch mechanism. These bushes are exposed to the harsh environment of rain, dirt and sunshine. Vesconite outperforms other materials. Laminated bushings delaminated in area which were wet or humid. Low friction Vesconite gives a long life in demanding conditions as well as a smooth operation. Maintenance and lubrication of this system is difficult because of remote locations. Vesconite has the added advantage of electrical insulation.

Jet Rig Mobile Miner (08/09/05)
Vesconite forms an important part of the JetRig - a self-elevating walking platform used for mining diamond bearing ore on the beaches and in the sea off the African coastline.
The JetRig acts as a deployer, carrier and platform for special mining operations where dry and submerged material (or ore) is mined. The machine weighs some 350 tonnes. When moving, can walk, side-step, turn on its own axis, and jack up and down. It has a primary screening plant on board to screen out excess water, as well as under and oversize material.
Vesconite forms the sliding bearing elements for the longitudinal, transverse and jackable legs, sliding movements, as well as for various bearings on the machine.
Vesconite was chosen for its proven ruggedness under adverse conditions, particularly in coastal marine applications; it allows for high bearing pressures at low speeds at a relatively low cost. Other medium to heavy equipment is being designed and built with extensive use of Vesconite for bearing surfaces.

Swing jaw crusher bush (23/03/05)
Vesconite replaced bronze which had failed after 24 hour no-load test. The Vesconite has been working for more than two years with minimal wear.

Bucket loader Bushes (11/04/05)
Vesconite has replaced the bronze bushes on the bucket of a front end loader. In-spite of the lack of lubrication the bushes lasted longer than the original bushes.

Rope pulley on live stock trailer (11/04/05)
Vesconite replaced steel and nylon pulleys on a trailer for loading live stock. Vesconite performs well in this dusty and dry environment. The main benefit is that the Vesconite pulleys are less noisy and the animals don't frighten as easily.

Sprayer pump piston (11/04/05)
Vesconite is used as a piston on an open crank pump. The piston, 'o'-rings and piston rings only need lubrication on assembly.

Auger drilling machine (11/04/05)
Vesconite replaced the nylon buses on the drilling machine. The bushes lasted longer in the dirty conditions which meant less down time and more productivity.

Front differential support bushes (11/04/05)
Vesconite replaced the oil soaked Bakelite bushes in the front differential support. The Vesconite reduced the maintenance schedule on this earth moving vehicle which increased it's productivity.

Pivot bushes on tipper tail gate (12/04/05)
Vesconite is use on the new tipper because of it's durability and low maintenance.

Lawnmower wheel bearings (12/04/05)
Vesconite replaces the nylon bushes on a lawnmower because they out last the nylon bushes many times. They work in wet and dirty conditions.

Link arm bushes (12/04/05)
Vesconite Hilube was used on the like arms of a vehicle. Because the inner and outer surfaces are both curved the bush was formed buy heating the material. This could never be achieved with using any other material.

Screw conveyor (12/04/05)
Vesconite replaced pillow block bearings on a screw conveyor. The pillow block bearing would fail after about four weeks. The Vesconite bushes lasted in excess of three months.

Pump bearing (12/04/05)
Vesconite Hilube replaced the bronze bearings in a water pump. The pump is subjected to river sand and dirty water. The service intervals have been lengthened because the Vesconite Hilube lasts longer than the bronze.

Off shore drilling rig (12/04/05)
Vesconite was used in the design and construction of the off shore drilling rig because of excellent anti-friction properties, light weight and ease of machining.

Pedal boat (16/03/05)
Vesconite is being used as the bearing for the pedal crank on a pedal boat. The bearings are subjected to sea water. However, the wear rate is very good which is a huge bonus because it is difficult to check and maintain the boats.

Pivot arm grinding machine (16/03/05)
Vesconite is used as the bushing material in the pivot arm. Because of the nature of the equipment, there cannot be much free play between the arm and column.

Mechanical actuator lead screw nut (16/03/05)
Vesconite is being used as the lead screw nut on an actuator. The load and adverse conditions caused major problems with the original materials and this has been solved by using Vesconite.

Transport tractor king pin bushes (16/03/05)
Vesconite replaces bronze on a transport tractor. The king pins are subjected to high impact loads and a lack of lubrication.

Trail arm pivot bush (16/03/05)
Vesconite replaced nylon and bronze on a truck's suspension trail arms. The life span of the bushes has been greatly improved, considering the harsh conditions of the roads used.

Brake riveting machine (17/03/05)
Vesconite replaces bronze on the riveting machine. Because the equipment is used in an environment that is not conducive to maintenance, the self lubricating Vesconite bushes last much longer.

Gear shift linkage (17/03/05)
Vesconite was used on the gear shift linkage. The operation of the the lever was much smoother and more positive.

Double roll crusher (17/03/05)
Vesconite replaces phosphor bronze bushes in the bearing housing to maintain the alignment of the shaft in relationship with the bearings. The Vesconite lasts substantially longer than the phosphor bronze.

Tractor pivot bushes (11/03/05)
Vesconite replaced the bronze bushes on the lifting arms of a tractor. The bronze bushes would seize if not lubricated on a regular maintenance schedule.

Bath plug (11/03/05)
Vesconite has been used to make an anti-theft bath plug for a public rest room. There in no chain in the design and the plug cannot be removed from the bath or basin. As Vesconite is a food grade material it is safe to use in this application.

Monosem mielie planter (11/03/05)
Vesconite has replaced the previous material in the planter and has shown that it gives at least 50% longer life in the same dusty, dry conditions.

Shackle bushes (11/03/05)
Nylon bushes were replaced by Vesconite on a vehicle. The bushes not only lasted longer, but because of the smaller interference between the bush and the shaft, the wheel tracked better.

Actuator nut on train door (14/03/05)
Vesconite Hilube has been used with great success in a high load no lubrication application on the opening mechanism on a train door.

Sliding gate (14/03/05)
Due to the rain and other conditions roller bearings on a sliding gate only lasted nine months. They were replaced by Vesconite bushes and have so far lasted four years. The noticeable improvement has been the lower friction on the wheel axles.

Pivot bushes on a forklift (14/03/05)
Vesconite has replaced the bronze pivot bushes on forklifts with great success. The forklifts work in dusty conditions under high loads with no lubrication on the bushes. Vesconite out lasted the bronze in spite of the lack of maintenance.

Roller crusher (16/03/05)
Vesconite is being used for the bearings on a roller crusher in a brick yard. There is some shock loading and the conditions are very dusty and dirty. The roller has been running on the Vesconite bearing for about a year without any problems.

Brick making machine (16/03/05)
Vesconite out lasts the bronze on an extruder type brick making machine. The machine has little or no maintenance and is covered in fine dust.

Ophthalmic equipment (16/03/05)
Vesconite is used for the bushes on the arms and pivots. Vesconite was chosen because of the smooth operation , low friction and load capacity. The Vesconite is also easy to machine and can be machined to high tolerances.

Gear pump bearing (16/03/05)
Vesconite is being used as a bearing in a gear pump. The original material is difficult to machine and fit. The results so far have been very encouraging.

Baling machine (16/03/05)
Vesconite bushes are use on a baling machine. While the baler is in use there is little or no lubrication done The Vesconite does not give any problems which increases the productivity of the equipment.

Flap valve pivot bush (11/03/05)
Vesconite replaces brass bushes in a flap valve where the brass wears out quickly because of the harsh operating conditions.

Brake caliper bushes (11/03/05)
Vesconite Hilube is used to refurbish brake caliper bushes on a taxi. The original component is not easily available.

Morse code key (11/03/05)
The flanged bushes were replaced with Vesconite after it was discovered that there was a break down in the electrical insulation. The factory fitted bushes lasted one year. The Vesconite bushes were installed three years ago and are still working perfectly

Hydraulic piston rings (11/03/05)
Vesconite has replaced nylon in hydraulic cylinders because of it's higher load capabilities and the tolerances which can be much tighter.

Coating line machine shaft bearings (8/3/05)
Vesconite has replaced brass bushes on a coating line machine.
The service life has been vastly improved. Also the Vesconite bushes do not break unlike the brass bushes which had a tendency to brittleness.

Hydraulic seats on backactor (8/3/05)
Vesconite has replaced nylon seats in a hydraulic valve block on a tractor-drawn backactor.
The original material could not be sourced therefore Vesconite was used. The performance from the Vesconite has surpassed the nylon because of the stability of the material.

Barb wire machine bushes (8/3/05)
Vesconite was used because there are no lubrication points accessible on the main shafts of the machine the bronze bushes didn't last.

Vertical gas doors (3/3/05)
Vesconite fitted to vertical gas doors to limit wear.

Opencast mining blast hole drill rig (3/3/05)
Vesconite fitted to a guide for drilling equipment. Operation has high loads and fast movement with abrasives, dust and a lack of lubrication.
Vesconite outlasts bronze by more than five times.

Hangar bearings on grain screw conveyor (3/3/05)
Vesconite fitted to the hangar bearings to replace bronze gave five years of life. Lubrication is not desirable as bearings are in direct contact with the product. The product is often of an abrasive nature.

Flexo Printing machine bushes and gears (3/3/05)
Vesconite used in contact with alcohol based flexo inks in printing machine. Vesconite is not attacked by alcohol but rather lubricated by it in this difficult to maintain application.

Truck dropside bushes (1/3/05)
Vesconite used as bushes on truck drop side to replace bronze and nylon.
Application is dirty and dusty and there is no lubrication.

Swing gate barrel hinge bushes (1/3/05)
Vesconite fitted in the barrel hinge of a large swing gate.
Loads are high and bushes are exposed to dust and rain with no lubrication.
Steel bushes which wore replaced by self lubricating Vesconite.

Winch bearing (1/3/05)
Bearings on underground winch fitted with Vesconite in a wet and dusty environment. Vesconite gives a longer life and smooth running with no breakdowns.

Drilling rig vehicle wear plate (1/3/05)
Vesconite fitted to exploration drilling rig replaced nylon. This is an exposed and dirty application.

Vesconite replaces metal plate to prevent wear and to close the gap in an abrasive environment.

Vesconite replaces OEM coated metal strip bushes in a high volume ultrasonic cleaner. Swarf particles, grease and oil wear the PTFE coating whereas Vesconite gives full thickness wear life.

Vesconite used to replace rose joint on Porsche 911 (2.7 lt) used in racing. Vesconite is easy to manufacture to tight tolerances and maintains it's dimensional stability. Vesconite can take the high loads and does not have "stick-slip". Greased on installation and expected never to be replaced.

Crank press main bearing (3/2/05)
Vesconite used to replace bronze on the flywheel bearing. Bronze failed within hours, whereas Vesconite has never been replaced. Bushes were oil lubricated.

Dirt lifting truck pivot bush (1/02/05)
Vesconite replaces polymer coated strip bushes in dirty environment on pivot bush used in lifters on the back of refuse trucks.
