Swell
Vesconite bushes do not swell or soften in wet conditions. This is
unlike nylon that swells up to 3%.
Vesconite does not swell and so close clearances can be used with confidence without the risk of seizure.
Compression
strength
Vesconite does not soften in water and remains hard. Nylon
materials can lose up to 60% of bearing strength when immersed.
Water and humidity result in the nylon wear surface softening and not performing to standard. Because of the loss of compression strength caused by moisture, nylon bearings tend to creep in moist environments.
Creep is not a problem for Vesconite, since it retains its compression strength in wet conditions.
Shaft wear
Nylon is noted for its wear to shafts whereas Vesconite
does not wear shafts.
