NoSwell Vesconite bushes do not swell and remain hard in wet conditions Vesconite problem solving index Vesconite is suited to wet conditions as it does not swell or soften in water; water is an excellent lubricant for Vesconite. Nylon swells up to 3% when immersed. This causes closure of clearances and possibly seizures.
To compensate for material swell, large clearances must be given as to avoid seizures. These are a problem since: The allowable wear life of the bush is reduced The shaft is less stable The shaft is likely to vibrate possibly damaging seals Vesconite bushes in wet conditions can be designed with confidence with close clearances. Vesconite will not change size when immersed and will retains its compression strength as it remains hard and does not soften. Typical immersed applications include: Valves Hydro power
