Pneumatic and Hydraulic Fluid powercylinders need to guarantee a long service life.
The wear components in these cylinders therefore need to give the same long life
performance.

What makes Vesconite
well suited to long life components, such as wear
rings and bearings?
Low Friction
Vesconite
contains internal lubricants giving a low friction even if running dry. Oil
lubrication further reduces the friction, and water is an excellent lubricant.
Dimensional Stability
- Vesconite
exhibits a negligible water or oil swell, which for practical purposes can be
ignored.
- Vesconite
has a low thermal expansion rate in comparison to other polymeric materials.
(6.5 x 10-5
mm/mm/oC) (3.6 x 10-5
in/in/oF)
This allows designs with closer and more predictable tolerances.
High Load Carrying Capacity
Vesconite
has a compression strength of more than 80 MPa (11600 psi) and can safely be designed for
static loads of 30 MPa (4250 psi). This is especially relevant for cylinder bearings.
These properties give
- Very low wear rates to wearing
components as well as mating surfaces.
- Long component life expectancy.
Vesconite in comparison to other wearing materials :
Acetal (POM, Polyoxymethylene)
Vesconite
gives a lower friction and a lower wear rate
Bronze
- Vesconite
is able to successfully operate in dry conditions.
- Vesconite
gives a lower friction and a lower wear rate in un lubricated conditions.
- Vesconite
gives excellent performance in wet conditions and is unaffected by
condensate.
Nylons
- Vesconite
does not swell in water or oil and does not soften when immersed.
- Vesconite
has a higher load carrying capacity.
- Vesconite
has a lower wear rate.
UHMWPE
- Vesconite
has a higher load carrying capacity.
- Vesconite has a much better dimensional stability.
