Screw Conveyor in Cement Batching Plant

Screw conveyor hangar bearings support long shafts - often in dirty and abrasive conditions without regular greasing. .

Usually grease contamination of the conveyed product must be avoided, so hangar bearings need to operate with no additional lubrication.

Vesconite is self lubricating and can operate in many applications without additional grease or lubrication.

Vesconite and Vesconite Hilube are safe to use with water and food and do not contaminate food products.

Vesconite resists a wide range of chemicals and therefore a large variety of products can be used to lubricate the bearings.

In mildly abrasive applications, Vesconite Hilube operating against hard shafts gives a long wear life to the bearing and the shaft.

If the application is highly abrasive, then Hitemp 150 can provide a good solution.

Vesconite Hilube bushings can last many times longer than bronze - especially in dirty conditions.

Problems were experienced on the centre liner bearing of a cement screw conveyor in a batching plant. Typically the bronze bearings were replaced 5 times a year, resulting in costly down time, and the bronze bearings were also seizing due to lack of lubrication

A bearing that could operate without lubrication in a dirty, highly abrasive environment was needed. Vesconite Hilube was recommended and bearings were machined from a 65 x 40 mm (2.5" x 1.5") bushing [shaft diameter 45 mm (1.8"), housing size of 65 mm (2.5")].
