Vesconite Hilube for clocks
He was constructing an all wood clock and Vesconite Hilube seemed to be the answer in such a design. He was assured that Vesconite Hilube unlubricated would probably outlast all other materials unlubricated, but that a drop of oil would reduce friction by more than half and give yet many times longer life. He subsequently completed the clock with Applewood wheels and African Blackwood pinions with steel arbors running on Vesconite Hilube bushes. In December 2000, Mr Frank again contacted us, this time sharing the successful completion of a 5-dial calendar clock made of wood, perspex and Vesconite Hilube. His only regret is that he will not be here in 100 years time to see how the bearings are doing - wooden-wheel clocks are known to last well over a century!
