Vesconite Marine Bearings used in the
GeorgiousT |
| The stern of the Georgios T. The vessel
was not allowed to leave the Rotterdam harbour because the rudder bush had
worn over 7,4 mm which is over class limits. Vesconite was offered and sold
as soon as the owner had reviewed the design manual. |
 |
| The rudder bush was machined to the
proper sizes. Dry ice was added around 08.00 am for a scheduled
installation around 11.00 am. The vessel would be leaving the dock at night. |
 |
| The previous material had been inside the
vessel for over 10 years. The housing had to be machined because of oval
wear spots which would cause problems for the newly installed bush.
|
 |
| After 3 hours the bush was reduced enough
to fit into the housing, clearance at this point was about 0,7 mm |
 |
| As suggested in the Vesconite
Marine Design
Manual, installation was performed with the help of an hoist which pressed
the bush into the housing within minutes. |
 |
| The bush was installed with extreme ease
as seen on this picture |
 |

|
 |
| After installation the bush warmed up to
ambient temperature and secured itself into the housing, clearance after
installation was calculated at less than 1 mm. |
 |
|
View down into the dock, the bush could be seen packed
with dry ice.
This was the first experience with Vesconite in the
yard. They were delighted by the ease of machining Vesconite,
delivery time, installation and service of Intertech as well as
VescoPlastics Sales.
