Centre lathe steady bushes

This customer, an armature winding company, notes that the use of steadies on their centre lathes is very important in the repair of bent and damaged rotor shafts. When a bent shaft has to be rewelded and the centre cannot be used, machining is done with the steady.
When using bronze steadies, these have to be replaced every 6 months. After 30 months, wear on the Vesconite steady was approximately 30% of the total permissable wear, thus showing considerable wear resistance compared to bronze.
