material to give long bearing life with minimal maintenance.
The environmentally sensitive hydro-power industry requires components that not
only last long with minimal attention, but also reduce river contamination.
Vesconite Hilube eliminates greasing in many applications as it can run without
lubrication or be lubricated by process water.
What makes Vesconite Hilube an ideal bushing material for the Hydro-Power
industry?
No greasing
Vesconite Hilube is internally lubricated with advanced solid lubricants. The
requirement for greasing can be eliminated which reduces environmental risk and
other problems associated with greasing and greasing systems.
No water swell
Vesconite Hilube is dimensionally stable and does not swell in water. Bushings
can be designed and manufactured with close clearances without the fear of
seizure.
Can run dry
The internal lubricants of Vesconite Hilube allow bushings to run completely dry
in many oscillating applications and run dry for some time in high speed
rotational applications.
Low wear
Vesconite Hilube gives an exceptionally low wear both to the bushing and to the
expensive metal counter surfaces.
Low friction
Low friction Vesconite Hilube eliminates vibration caused by stick-slip.

Vesconite Hilube is self lubricating and does not require additional greasing.
This is especially important for the high frequency micro-oscillations that
occur in wicket gates. These micro-oscillations are so small that they do not
spread grease effectively.

Water lubricated turbine bearings – Kaplan turbines
Vesconite Hilube is ideal for water lubricated turbine bearings. Vesconite
Hilube does not swell in water and close clearances can be maintained without
fear of seizure.
Trash rake cleaner bushings
Vesconite Hilube is ideal for high load, low speed applications on many designs
of trash rakes. These applications typically include pivot points and boom
slides that are highly loaded and often exposed to wet and dirty conditions.
Pressure relief control valve guides
Vesconite Hilube succeeds in this application because its low friction has no stick-slip. The occasional motion causes sticking and vibration to
higher friction materials.
