Bush Talk #40 Vesconite bushes: free of lead, mercury, cadmium and chromium.
Vesconite is the lead free alternative to bronze, as most bronzes contain lead. Vesconite self lube bearings have always been free of lead, asbestos, mercury and other hazardous materials and are manufactured without the use of solvents. Vesconite applications include bearings and bushes in suspensions, starter motors, shock absorbers, pedals and linkages, door hinges, pumps, valves, seat hinges, vibration dampers and steering columns. The European Parliament directive 2000.53/EG (18 September 2000) aims to avoid lead in all motor vehicles. Article 4(2)a) states: The directive's main purpose is to ensure that all materials and components used in the manufacture of motor vehicles which will be brought into traffic after the 1st July 2003 will be free of lead, mercury, cadmium and 6-valued chromium. If you would like to consider a change to lead free Vesconite, reply to this email or contact Ian Moffett. |
