Newsletter #17
'Leading from the front' took on its true meaning on 4 March 2004 when the first CEO crossed the finish line at the Wanderers Stadium. Dr J-P Leger, Managing Director of VescoPlastics, was the first male chief executive officer home. The 5.6 km road race (3.5 miles), the first JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge to be held in South Africa, was part of a worldwide series of 16 races open to teams of full time employees from all businesses, corporations and government agencies. A record breaking 6 144 eager participants from 211 companies sprinted, jogged or walked their way to a fun filled evening in Johannesburg, vying for team prizes and the first chief executive officer prize. Dr Jean-Patrick Leger, Managing Director of VescoPlastics in Johannesburg, showed 'how well his business runs'. He was enthusiastically supported by seven members of his staff, all of whom finished the course. Leger advocates exercise every day: "I start at five-fifteen every morning, and find exercise keeps me alert. Fitness helps to to be more effective in business, and that's a big reason for the success our company achieves all around the world." Visit www.vesconite.com for details on our products.
