1) IDENTIFICATION :

The applicant forwarded for test a plate of Vesconite intended to come into short term contact (dynamic contact) with solid or liquid foodstuffs.

 

2) TESTS CARRIED OUT :

We carried out the tests of food compatibility according to the French regulations and European directives on materials intended to come into contact with foodstuffs.

- Tests of total migration :

* Reference documents :

  • Project of method worked out by the General Commission of Unification of the Methods of Analyses (Ministry for the Economy, Finances and the Budget, Directorate-General of Competition, the Commission and the Repression of Frauds)
     
  • Directive of the EEC of 18 October 1982 (Official Journal of the European Community of 23/10/82 No L297).
     
  • Directive of the EEC of 19 December 1985 (Official Journal of the European Community of 31/12/85 No L372).
     
  • Directive of the EEC of 23 February 1990 (Official Journal of the European Community of 21/03/90 No L75).

 

* Conditions of the test :

  • liquid simulators used :
     
    Aqueous tests : distilled water  
      acetic acid 3 %  
      ethanol 15 %  
    Fatty test : sunflower oil  

     

  • Temperature and time of contact:
     
    Aqueous tests : 2 hours at 40°C  
    Fatty test : 2 hours at 40°C

3) RESULTS :

4) CONCLUSION :

The results obtained are lower than the maximum limit for authorized migration which is 10 mg/dm2 with an analytical tolerance of 1 mg/dm2 for the aqueous tests and 3 mg/dm2 for the fatty test.

  • The material can be put in contact with the foodstuffs under the conditions for which it is planned, provided its composition is in conformity with the regulation (see booklet 1227 of the Official Journal).
